B1 Preliminary (PET) Speaking – Practice Test 1 — Part 3 – Talking together
2–3 minutes. You and your partner talk together to make a decision. Read the task and the model conversation, practise out loud, then try the questions below.
The examiner's script
Interlocutor: Now, in this part of the test you're going to talk about something together for about two minutes. I'm going to describe a situation to you.
A school has some money to make the students' free time better. Here are some ideas the school is thinking about.
- build a new sports court
- open a music room with instruments
- create a quiet library and study space
- start a school garden
- buy new computers for a games club
Interlocutor: Talk together about the different ideas, and then decide which two would be best for the students. All right? Now, talk together.
Model conversation
A: Shall we start with the sports court? I think a lot of students would use it every day.
B: Yes, I agree, but only people who like sport would use it. What about the music room? That could be popular too.
A: That's a good point. Some students love music. But the quiet library sounds useful for everyone, especially before exams. What do you think?
B: I think you're right. Maybe the garden isn't so important. So shall we choose the sports court and the library?
A: Yes, let's do that. They're the two that would help the most students.
