Put the right past simple and past continuous forms of the verbs in brackets in the blanks.

When I (enter) the office, the manager (talk) on the phone. While I (wait) near the door, I (notice) several people working quietly. The manager (finish) his call and (invite) me to sit down. While he (ask) questions about my experience, I (try) to stay calm. Suddenly, someone (knock) on the door, but the manager (continue) the interview without stopping.
