A1 English Reading Test
Read a text about four people who live in a different country. Then, for questions 1 to 8, decide if the statements are True or False.Anna is from Italy.
I now live in England. I came here six months ago to learn English. I was really shy at first, but now I can talk better. Every morning, I go to language classes. I work in a café in the afternoon. It’s colder here than in Italy, but I like to drink hot tea when it rains. I miss Italian food, but I do make pasta for my friends sometimes.
Mateo is from Mexico.
I moved to France for work. I work as a chef in a Paris restaurant. I learn new words every day, even though the language is hard. People in France love food and long meals. I like that! On the weekends, I go to small towns near Paris. I like the markets and buy bread and cheese.
Sara is from Turkey.
My aunt and I live in the United States. I came here to go to school. Life is very different here than it is in my country. People move quickly in the big city. I walk to school every morning and take the bus home. I like how free it is here, but I miss my family and Turkish tea sometimes.
Kenji is from Japan.
Last year, I moved to Spain. I teach Japanese at a school for languages. It’s not easy to learn Spanish, but my students help me. I really like the food here, especially the paella! Every Sunday, I go to the beach and play volleyball with my new friends. The weather is always nice and warm.
