Narrative Writing Step by Step - B1+ English Writing — Exercise 1
Read the short story and identify the main event and what happened before and after it.
On Saturday morning, I was cycling beside the lake when I noticed a dog running across the path. I stopped and looked around, but nobody was calling it. The dog suddenly jumped into the water and began swimming towards an empty boat. A moment later, I saw a child waving from inside it. The rope had broken, and the wind was pushing the boat away from the shore. I called the emergency services and told them what had happened. A rescue team arrived within minutes and brought the child and the dog safely back.
1Which is the main event of the story?
2Which event happened before the main event?
