The British ways
Lina from Brazil
I moved to the UK two years ago. British people are very polite. They often say “sorry” and “thank you”. I like this because it feels friendly. The weather is often rainy and cloudy, but I enjoy walking in the parks. I love visiting small cafés and drinking hot chocolate. I sometimes miss the sunny beaches in Brazil.
Marco from Italy
In the UK, people stand in a queue and wait for their turn. I think this is very organised. People are usually quiet on the bus and train. At first, this was strange for me. Now I understand it is part of British culture. I like going to local markets at the weekend. British food is different from Italian food, but I like fish and chips.
Sara from Turkey
I study in London. People are very helpful when I ask for directions. It rains a lot, so I always carry an umbrella. I enjoy visiting museums because many of them are free. I also like British tea with milk. I sometimes miss my family and Turkish breakfast.
Tomás from Argentina
I work in Manchester. British people are usually on time for work and meetings. I think this is very important. The weather is cold in winter, but the houses are warm inside. I enjoy going to the pub with my colleagues on Friday evenings. I miss Argentine meat, but I like living here.
