The present

1 At the moment: Right now, now.
My parents are cooking dinner at the moment.

2 Today: This day.
We are learning about animals today.

The past

3 Last: The last one (day, week, month, etc.).
She visited her cousin last summer.

4 Ago: In the past, before now.
They moved here three years ago.

5 In (year, decade, century): To talk about a time in the past.
My grandmother started school in 1965.

6 In the past: Not now, a long time ago.
Children played outside more in the past.

7 Yesterday: The day before today.
I cleaned my room yesterday.

8 The day before yesterday: Two days ago.
We had pizza the day before yesterday.

9 Recently: Not long ago; in the near past.
She recently bought a new bicycle.

The future

10 Next: The one after now (day, week, month, etc.).
My family will travel next weekend.

11 In a moment: Very soon, in a short time.
Please wait, the teacher will arrive in a moment.

12 In the future: After now, later.
People may use flying cars in the future.

13 Tomorrow: The day after today.
I am going shopping tomorrow.

14 The day after tomorrow: Two days from now.
Our guests are coming the day after tomorrow.

15 Soon: In a short time.
The movie will start soon.

Days and parts of the day

16 On + day (+ part of a day): Use on before a day of the week or a specific time on that day, like Monday morning or Tuesday evening, to say when something happens.
My sister has dance lessons on Friday afternoon.

17 In the morning: The early part of the day, before 12 pm.
He usually reads the news in the morning.

18 In the afternoon: The part of the day from about 12 pm to 6 pm.
We sometimes play games in the afternoon.

19 In the evening: The time after the afternoon.
My family watches movies in the evening.

20 At night: The late part of the day, when it’s dark.
The stars look beautiful at night.
